Peony problem

Question
I have several old peony plants that have had red buds this spring and then the buds opened into very tiny, curled, yellow-green, deformed leaves with no stems.  Two of the three plants have one stem that grew and has normal leaves and one even has a flower bud.  Can I save these plants?  They have been in the family since the late 1800's and had a rough start at our house, having been moved here in the middle of winter.  Thanks for any help.

Answer
Dont do anything at this point.  Let them do whatever they are going to do this growing season.  Make sure they are fertilized and watered during dry periods.  The distorted leaves sound possibly like a mycoplasma, which causes leaf stunting and deformation.  You may not see that next year, so just leave them alone and see if they look better next year.  Sorry to provide no better solution than wait.  If they have this type of growth next spring, cut them back.  Having just been moved, I would not do anything to them at this point.  Thanks.
