Squirrels problem

Question
I have a problem with squirrels. They are an unwelcome guests to my lawn, fruit tree and flower beds. They have been digging holes in my newly reseeded lawn. They ate my peach and made a mess in my flower bed. I have read several suggestions about squirrels deterrant products (Deer Off or fox urine), fresh red peppers or human hairs. I don't know what is the best. I have no bird feeder. Any suggestions?

Answer
You can try the repellents if you wish. I would caution you regarding any expectations that they will work to your satisfaction. Remember, squirrels have to get ready for winter. Using a repellent will simply make them choose between starving or having something that is annoying around. That scenario assumes that they consider the repellent annoying in the first place.

Other than exclusion or lethal control, I don't think there will be much you can do.
You can visit http://icwdm.org to learn more information on controlling tree squirrels. Sorry, but there is no magic in animal damage control. Be sure to follow all state and local laws before initiating any control program.
