pineapple(s)

Question
Dear Mr. McCann : I have two pineapple plants that have pineapples the size of a "Softball", maybe bigger. They are both in separate pots. The pots are of equal size (approx. 1 gal.) They both seam to have stopped growing. So, I am thinking of transplanting them into bigger pots. I would like to know if doing this would help them to continue to grow bigger or would transplanting hurt them at this time of the year or at any time ?
Thank You,
Mary Lombardo

Answer
Hi Mary, when they begin to turn yellowish brown in color, they are at their optimum size; this is directly proportionate to the amount of sun, irrigation and fertilizing they received. If this has happened then transplanting will not effect them, but if they are still green, then I would transplant them and make sure they get sufficient sunlight. Nick
