I got a hydranga for Mothers day. I planted it according to the intstructions. It did not say when it would bloom & I see no sign of buds. When should I see buds? Does it require a special food or fertilizer?

Thanx for your question.  What type of hydrangea is it?  Is it one of the florist-grade hydrangeas that is packaged in a gift pot from a florist, grocery store or department store?  Or is it a hardy shrub sold out of one of the big box DIYs or nurseries?  It makes a substantial difference.  Let me know please.
