Proper division of Stella Doro daylilies

Question
I have had my "stellas"approx.5 yrs..last year they were noticeable less blooms and rarely re-bloomed..i know i need to divide.but is there any site that has a photo of exactly how i need to divide between the "eyes..i'm a little confused and don't want to damage them..Thanks

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Thanx for your question.  Here is a link from Better Homes and Gardens that shows a video of a man dividing stella d'oros.  I'd like to point out that while he just dug up a big clump and separated into smaller clumps, you can actually pull the individual plants apart without harming the rhizomes.  It's easy.  Dig up the clump as shown on the video, identify single plants and just start pulling them apart.  These plants are tough and you're not going to harm them.  Just shake off as much dirt as you can.  I hope this helps.
Tom
