stella doro daylilies

Question
I live in North West NJ...I planted stella d'oro's for the first time a couple of months ago. The stalks have sprouted out from the ground a few inches (maybe around 6 inches) but I have no flowers. All other stella d'oro's in the area are blooming. Why aren't mine? It is now late June and I would think they would be bigger and have flowers.

Answer
Hi Sue,
Thanx for your question.  If you only planted your Stella D'oros a couple months ago, it is natural for them to behind those that were already established.  You indicated that you have scapes coming up out of the plant.  If the scapes have buds on them you will have blooms in a few weeks.  Give you plants a side dressing of well composted cow manure and make sure they are watered once a week if you don't have a regular rain.  I hope this helps.
Tom
