daylily seed pods

Question
My Stella d'Oro daylillies are putting on seed pods already.  Should I prune these off?  I'm thinking that leaving them on will only discourage new flowers for the rest of the summer.  Thanks Cris

Answer
Cris, Sorry for delay,my computer had a virus and I had to get it taken off.
Anyway, the Stella d'Oro daylilies usually put on the best and longest bloom display of all the dwarf varieties. There is a few new ones that claim to be like the Stella but I haven't tried them yet.All of mine are about gone too,but they aren't the Stella variety. I would think cutting off the seed pod will encourage more bloom, but it does take a while if you have a big bed full of them. ALL of my customers have daylilies so it is impossible for me to cut off every seed pod,but if you have only a few plants I would suggest you do that. Also, get some bloom booster for them.Miracle Gro or Scotts or any generic type will do.You will be rewarded with great summer color! But if you don't have time, heck, just leave them on.I think they are kind of ornamental anyway. They are better looking than most old spent blooms I have seen.
Have a great summer!
