Arborvitae Spacing

Question
I planted a hedge of Hetz Wintergreen arborvitae 4 years ago way to close together.  They are about 6' tall now and I'll be using a skidsteer to pull out enough of them to get proper spacing.  What distance would you recommend for that spacing?  BTW, I plan to attempt replanting those removed.  Any advice there would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Charlie

Answer
it depends on how big(wide) they ultimately get. if they go to 10' wide then plant them about 8' apart. 15' then about 12' apart. it depends on how fast you want them to touch each other. you need to do it soon as they are still in dormancy if you are up north. i'm in southern NJ. keep as much dirt on the rootballs as you can manage. water them in real good after transplanting then once a week for the 1st month.
