White lice on cycads

Question
I have two cycad plants in teracotta pots.  They have been in the position on the patio for about 2 years.  They get morning sun and are in the open (i.e. can get rain).  The leaves have become brown in places and their are sticky white marks on some of them.  At night small white creatures that look like wood lice come out onto these marks.  can you tell me how to get rid of them and some general information on cycad care please.

Many thanks
Daynia Phillips

Answer
Hi Daynia,  That is a serious problem with cycads.  If you have a pressure washer try and push them off with it and spray with an oil spray to try and smother them.  You can check out www.atomicgrow.net to see how to spray them off.  Do not know if they ship to your country.  It is the only thing that I know of that helps at this time.  kathy
