Prairie Zinnia

Question
I recently picked up some Prairie Zinnia, but they have no flowers at all.  How long does it generally take to get flowers on them?  Thanks -

Answer
Dear Dave, These are going to be a rather late blooming plant, probably not until later summer.  These are beautiful perennials and they will come back every year.  I would go ahead and start giving it light feedings of fertilizer every month or so, and then just before they bloom for a really nice blooming.  Feed them with a fertilizer with a high middle number.  Fertilizers come with a three number formula - nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.  The phosphorus is very good for blooms and root systems.  For instance 5-10-5 would be higher in phosphorus. I hope you enjoy them.  Write back if you have more questions.  Melissa
