Sprinklers wont turn off

Question
Sprinkler system won't turn off unless I turn the water valve off. It will only cycle to the next zone if I turn the valve off. Turning the timer controller to off doesn't stop it. I replaced the valve after talking to the krain folks. No change. Next step? Indexing valve or Controller?

Answer
Hey Doreen, I'm sorry but I might need more information. When you say you replaced the valve, what valve did you replace, the main turn on valve to the system, or the automatic valve that is hooked to the controller? Either way, your automatic valve is still on all the time, and it is either stuck on, or the controller is turning it on all the time. To tell if it is the controller, just unplug, or disconnect the 110 volt power source to the controller. If the water is still running, then it is in the automatic valve, if it stops (with the controller unplugged) then it is the controller that is bad. It also sounds like your indexing valve is not working properly, if you have to turn it on and off to get it to rotate to the next zone. If your indexing valve is bad, I would suggest putting individual automatic valves in for each zone, and getting a new controller that will handle the # of zones that you have, and getting rid of the indexing valve, because they can be a big problem. Let me know if you have anymore questions, thanks and have a great day.
