sprinkler wont shut off

Question
We have a station that won't shut off - there have been great helps on this site and others but the first question we have is how to shut off the water supply to the sprinklers. We can shut off for the house but it doesn't shut off for the sprinklers. I'm afraid to remove the valve, I think the water is just going to shoot all over. Do you have any advice?

Answer
Hi Time,

If the codes in your area are like here in Florida, you should have a backflow valve, usually after the meter.

Your problem is at the valve. You can close the water at the city meter, and replace the solenoid, if doesn't works open the valve and clean it. If the diaphragm looks broken or to hardened replace it. You don't need to remove the valve.

Guillermo
