Irrigation Valve will not turn on

Question
Hello, I have been having problems with the 1st zone of my sprinkler system which has not worked ever since I bought the house (3 years ago).  First I could not find the valve but finally found it last week and I thought hurray, now I can fix it.  Here's what I have done so far and still no luck with having the controller turn on/off the valve.    The valve will run manually.

1.  I replaced the valve with a brand new one...still won't work from the controller but works manually
2.  I replaced the jar top of the valve (solenoid) thinking that was broken.  Still won't work from the controller but works manually.
3.  Now I'm thinking, maybe it's the wire from the controller to the valve, I ran a new wire from the controller to the valve, still won't work.
3.  Now maybe it's the 1st zone of the controller that is not working (all other stations are working well) so I moved the wire station 2 into station 1 and it worked.
4.  So what else could be wrong.....obviously it is the valve in zone 1....

Can you help me please?

What could be possibly wrong and where is the problem.

Answer
Hey Mario, I hope this helps. You have done everything correctly. It is obvious that the controller is working correctly. It could be only two things. Number one would be that the new valve is defective. Number two would be that you installed the valve backward. Just make sure that the arrow on the valve is in the right direction as far as the water flowing from the pressure side to the sprinkler heads. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Thanks and have a great day.
