Zone wont turn off with timer

Question
I recently had a small area of my yard landscaped.  The landscaper told me that he would come and turn on the sprinklers in a couple of days after he finished.  He never came back.  I was told that I just have to turn on the valves manually, and that should do the trick.  I did that, and the sprinklers come on, but stay on, and won't follow the program of the timer.  My timer says that they are still on the system, and it shows that the set of sprinklers are working, but the sprinklers won't shut off unless I manually shut them off on the valve.  What do I need to do to make it follow the timer?

Answer
Try adjusting the valves by opening the flow control all the way, then close it all the way counting the turns.  Then open it up halfway.  This is the proper adjustment for most valves.  But really, it sounds as though the landscaper did not complete the job, part of which is making sure that everything works properly.  Contact the landscaper and demand that this be done, or you can at least file a complaint with the contractor licensing board.
