sprinkler wont turn off

Question
one of My sprinkler heads won't turn off. I read that it could be a valve or solenoid thats bad.How do I take off the valve and replace it. I'm very mechanical minded but haven't done this kind of work before and I'm sure that it is not that complicated, just need a little guidance. Please help if you can. Thanks Rob

Answer
Hey Rob, I hope this helps. I'm assuming by saying the head won't turn off, it either runs a little water all the time or alot of water all the time. Usually on a valve there are three things that normally go bad. #1 is the solenoid, this is very easy to replace, it simply un-screws and you can screw a new one back on. #2 is the diaphram in the valve, this also can be replaced very easily. #3 is the valve body itself is cracked, if this is the case, then the whole valve needs to be replaced, and this does take some time. A good website to show how to either re-build or replace a valve is: www.irrigationtutorials.com. Good luck and have a great day.
