Will a crape myrtle tree grow in Reno, NV? It does freeze in the winter.

Karen, they are hardy from zone 7 up, if your climate zone is 7 or higher, you will be ok, if not, I would grow one of the smaller hybrids in a container, and move it in during the winter months, if thats not possible then at least mulch it over heavily and wrap the trunk during the winter (it will be dormant anyway).
