Crepe Myrtle trees

Question
We recently lost a bunch of Willow trees to Amarillo disease (probably spelling that wrong, sorry) We were thinking of replacing the areas with crepe myrtles.. we need to know if they are subjective to this disease first... I was told its a HARD WOOD disease? (willows a hard wood? ) anyway.. I'd like to buy a nice crepe myrtle for my husband for fathers day if I could get an answer soon enough. thanks.

Answer
Hi Cherri, The only problem you would have with Crepe Myrtles would be aphids so stick with ones with the Indian names.  You can also use a spray called Atomic Grow which will keep your tree in the best of health organically so the bugs will go elsewhere.  You do not have to worry about the disease of the willow tree.  kathy
