Draceana trimming

Question
Hi, I have an outdoors Dracaena marginata that is over 10' tall. I need to bring it indoors for the winter. However it is too tall for any room indoors. My questions are: Is there a proper and safe way to cut this plant down to stay inside until spring? It has a single straight trunk. TIA, Jerry

Answer
Hey Jerry, ok...if you cut the crown off and leave about 4 feet of stem..then you can take the cutting and place it in the soil right next to the parent and it will root. Keep the soil lightly moist and in about a month the new cutting will become a new plant. The parent may or may not send out new growth, but the cutting will definitely. Nick
