Mock Orange Shrubs

Question
I live in central Indiana.  I planted bare root mock orange shrubs approximately 3-4 years ago in a grouping of three on the south side of my home.  They have plenty of room, lots of sun, good water and drainage, and have grown to over six feet tall ... and never flower.  I seem to remember buying the double flower type ... but, since they haven't flowered, I can't say for sure.  My husband is threatening to rip them out.  What can I do to prompt flowers next spring?

Answer
Deborah,
Have the shrubs ever been pruned? Mock oranges need to be pruned back in late June- early July (after it's normal flowering period of mid May to mid June), either by removing old growth wood or cutting them right to the ground (don't worry, they are fast growers and will come back stronger than ever).
Give them some organic fertilizer and compost to supply micro and macro nutrients.
