Question
I have a small front yard and our house is very close to  a busy road. we are going make a hedge out of shrubs.I want to get your opinion on choices.
i am in north jersey ,on a salted road, 3/4 full sun,and need them so they cant be groomed to 3.5 feet.I am not opposed to dedicious.thes are some of the ones i saw # 1)mountain boxwood 2)emerald and gold euonymus 3)dwarf burning bush 4)green beauty boxwood 5)silver king euonymus or any other.  cant you give me your opinion on the + and - of boxwoods, hollys, and euonymus

Answer
The pros to theses shrubs you mentioned are that they all are evergreen and offer year round interest, but the cons are they do not handle salt spray to well, especially hollies.  I would recommend using Privit shrubs.  These shrubs can handle just about any condition, but the only down side is that they are deciduous.  They do however grow very thick which makes it very useful as a privacy screen.  Hope this helped you.
