Un-blooming daylily

Question
I have successfully grown several varieties of daylilies in my prairie garden, including 'Catherine Woodbury', 'Tutti-Frutti', 'Stella d'Oro', 'Luxury Lace' and 'Strawberry Candy'. However, I have one variety, of which I don't recall the name, that has produced scapes only last year in the 4 or 5 years since I planted it. It is right behind two other varieties (Catherine Woodbury and Stella d'Oro) that bloom prolifically, all in full sun from 10 am onwards. All it has done is spread its root system and grown tall, with large healthy-looking leaves. Last year, there were only 3 or 4 scapes with blooms--nothing this year and it's already mid-July. It is fertilized along with the others.

Answer
Hi Gloria,
Thanx for your question.  If the other day lilies are performing then this one particular variety you have may have a genetic flaw or some type of root disease that has not spread to the others.  You might want to dig it up and put it somewhere by itself to see if that will improve its performance.  You can also contact these people and they may be able to help you.  http://www.daylilies.org/

I hope this helps.
Tom
