Pruning forsythia

Question
Does forsythia flower next spring on wood it produces this year?  I suspect the answer to this is "yes" but a forsythia we planted in early spring has already outgrown its position sprawling all over the place! I would dearly love to cut it back to size. Other than relocating it, (and it really seems to like the position it is in) what would you advise please

Answer
Hi Patty,
Thanx for your question.  The best time to prune forsythia is right after it blooms.  If you wait too late, you will be cutting off next years bloom buds.  So, you still have some time although some of the buds have probably already formed.  I hope this helps.
Tom
