Pruning Hydrandgas in Winter

Question
My large Hydrandga has dried up all winter and I didn't cut it back at all for fear of having no flowers in the summer.  Should I leave the long legged branches alone or cut back before spring?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Bernie,
Thanx for your question.  Prune your flowering shrubs after the blooming period but before the spring budding.  It's too late now to prune as, if you do now, you will reduce or negate the blooming of your shrub.  Prune your shrub in August or September.  I hope this helps.

Tom
