queen palm pruning

Question
I have a two very young Queen Palms in my backyard. They're approx. 45 to 55 inches in height. My problem is after a hard winter I prune the tree and left no leaves remaining. My question is will the trees continue growing and how long will it take for a single leaf to come out?

Answer
Hi Corrie, without any fronds at all, it is doubtful that the Palm will send any out, in fact it is a wonder if it survives at all. Palms rely on fronds to photosynthesize (feed themselves) and without them they are doomed. If there is absolutely no sign of a spear coming out of the middle, then it could very well be dead already. Nick
