Orchid Identification

Question

orchid
Hi,

Is this a terrestrial orchid? If so, how should I care for it of I were to bring it back? I found in growing under a tree in Singapore. Thank you.

Answer
Alfredo, continue to grow it in the "soil" in which you found it. Many orchids considered to be epiphytes often will fall out of trees and continue to grow on the ground even though they are not strictly called terrestrial. This may be the case with the plant you discovered.  I take it there were no orchids in the tree beneath which you found it. At this stage in its developmment, I can't even be sure it is an orchid-- although it has the appearance of one.  Hopefully, you can successfully grow and flower it and then we can, with more certainty, determin whether it is an orchid and , if so, what type.
