Question

new house plant
A friend gave me a plant but doesn't know what it is.  Can you give me a name so that I can research proper care for it?

Answer
Hi Teena,

Your plant is a Dracaena marginata.

It looks healthy, but it has adapted to low light. That is why it has long, thin stems with not many leaves. It would do a bit better if it were placed close to a north or east facing window. Water it very lightly and only when the top quarter of the soil is quite dry. No need to fertilizer it.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
