Divided S. leucophyllas

Question
Several weeks ago, I divided a number of pots of S. leucophylla.

Unfortunately, I did not have the information in the response to Jeff on 4/11, and I buried most/all of the rhizomes. I was not aware that they normally grow on the surface.

Should I repot those plants with the rhizomes up where they belong (while they still haven't grown significant new roots) or should I leave them buried and hope for the best?

Bill

Answer
Hi Bill,

This is normally not a big deal.  As they grow they will push new growth up.  Also, depending on how firm your new soil is and how deep you planted them, just simple erosion will often expose them over time.  If you're within a half-inch of the surface you're fine.  As long as the growing crown is above ground it will be fine.

Good Growing!
