Question
I have a plant called a purple Hybiscus. It is not a true Hybiscus as the leaves are different. However after I had them home and in pots I noticed a leaf that looked like someone had wiped blood on it. In a few days that leaf turned brown and then died. Other leaves had the same problem. It didn't seem to effect the whole plant, just the leaves. I sprayed the plant with a generic plant spray but nothing seemed to work. Today I noticed a rose plant had the same marks on a few of the leaves. I would really like to know what this is as I have never seen it before.

Answer
Hi Mary Ann...I found this piece about your plant and the botanical name that I think it is.  This information may help in taking care of your plant.  Botanical names are very important to insure we are talking about the same plant, which I hope we are.  Says disease usually does not bother this plant and this is the rest I found hope it helps...Plants grown in well-mulched beds require minimal, if any, supplementary watering once established. When plants are being established, they are watered well at planting, then again in the middle of that first week, then a week later, then a fortnight later, and if needed, then a month later. When established in this way, they should only need supplementary watering under extremely dry conditions. Plants will however take regular watering provided that they are in a well-drained position. The plant is called Alyogyne huegelii, where you may be able to find some additional information...
