Answer
Colleen,

It appears to be a combination of a watering problem and a light problem. This plant needs sunshine and not just bright light. I also suspect that it is being kept too wet and the roots may be rotting. It must be in a pot with drain holes and a drain tray under it. It needs to be watered then an hour later the drain tray needs to be emptied so it is not sitting in water constantly. Then do not water it again until the plant is dry and feels light weight. Then it will slowly grow new roots. Then you can cut it back an it will grow new leaves without the spots. But do not allow it to be dry for more than a day or being too dry for too long can also cause the same problem that you have. Good luck.
