Question
I am a sanderiana cultivator. I am cultivating sanderiana as an extra income. sanderiana leaves have brown marks in the centre of leaves and  also end of  the  leaves is being brownish. what are the reasons for these

Answer
Dear Kumari, Please forgive my very late response.  I am assuming that by sanderiana, you mean the Dracaena sanderiana, or lucky bamboo plant.  If by any chance you have a different species, please let me know, as there is also an orchid, Vanda sanderiana, for example.  I am pretty sure that the reason for your brown leaves would be the water.  These plants will do the best if given distilled water, not tap water, as tap water has too many minerals and salts that will cause these plants to develop brown leaves.  Change your water, and be especially careful to make sure that no pots have a crusty ring around the inside of the pots.  This ring is salt buildup, and must be scrubbed off and cleaned, as any plant in contact with it will develop brown areas.  Also be sure that the water is changed every two weeks.  The other reason that the plants could develop brown areas would be that they are given too much sun.  They should be grown in pretty shady conditions, unless you are trying to get plants with the twisted trunk effect.  In that case, you move them to a window or other light source, being sure to rotate the plants as they grow, but be sure that the light is not too strong and doesn't get too bright on the plant.  I hope this information helps, but please write back if this is the incorrect plant, or if you have other questions.  Once again, please forgive the extreme lateness of my reply, and I wish you great success with your plants.  Melissa
