plant diseases?

Question
I have three plants, a massangeana cane, a ficus and a ti plant.  The were all doing relatively well for the three months I had them at my old apartment and I had just worked out to where they liked the light the way I had adjusted them.  Then, I moved to another apartment which does have better lighting.  However, my plants don't seem to be doing as well.  The massangeana cane's bottom leaves started to turn yellowish and then shriveled up and died.  My ti plant's leaf tips started turning brown and now it is spreading to the rest of the leaves.  And, very recently, my ficus has developed some small spots where it almost looks like the leaves have been bleached all the way through.  Are my plants diseased or can they recover.  I have pictures and I will send them also to the email address listed previously.  Thank you, Kristin

Answer
Hi Kristen,

I replied to your photos before I saw this question.

Plants often go through an adjustment period when they are relocated. I expect they will soon stabilize for you.

Trim off the discolored leaves on the Massangeana cane.

The Ti plan may be responding to a change in water quality or soil that is getting a bit drier than before. If your local tap water is on the hard side, switch to filtered or distilled. A relocation can alter a plant's water requirements. You may have to change your watering schedule to reflect those changes.

Ficus trees are very hardy and the brown patches are inconsequential. However, don't be surprised if you see some substantial leaf drop in the coming months as a result of the changed location. Be patient and it will adapt.

Thanks for the photos.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
