irritrol rain dial problem

Question
Dear Jim,
We have the Irritrol Rain Dial RD-1200. It was installed August of 2006.  I feel we are quite adept at programming it.  We usually use program A with days and times for each valve and the time we want the watering to start. Currently we want it to run on program A which is set to go on Sun, Tues, and Thurs at 2 am.  We have noticed that it also runs program B which we have programmed for 10 minute valve waterings daily beginning at 4am. Specificially, even though the program selector is set on program A to begin at 2am for 3 days per week we are getting daily waterings.  I asked my contractor about this the following season it was installed and he stated that even though it is set to A.  B will run if you have the scheduled days set to "on" and a start time set.   This seems silly if you have the selector set to A.  What is the point of having an A, B, and C program switch if you almost have to fully program them to use them each time and then turn everything off.  Do I have a lemon raindial or is contractor right.
Also, Is my raindial supposed to display SEN if the rain sensor shuts off the system because it does not.
If I have a lemon what is the warranty on this RD.
Thank you, Debbie

Answer
Hey Debbie, I hope this helps. Once the controller is set to "run", it is going to run all three programs (A,B,C) no matter where the switch is set to (A,B, or C). Otherwise, how could you set and run more than one program? I don't understand why you have a program set into B, if you don't want it to run. Simply take the 4 am start time out, and it will no longer run program B. The contractor is right. An example of how the programs work is this, program A grass stations 1 through 10, 10 minutes each, mon. wed. fri. at 4:00am. Program B flowers station 11 and 12, 15 minutes each, everyday at 8:00 am. Once the switch is set to run, all the programs will run, you don't want to have to go out on mon, wed, and fri. and put the switch to A and then after they run put the switch to B. As far as the SEN display goes, depending on when the controller was manufactured, just in the last couple of years have they put this feature on the controller. If you look in the back of battery compartment, you will see a manufacturing date, you can contact "Irritrol" at www.irritrol.com, and they should be able to tell you if yours has this feature. I believe this controller has a 2 year warranty. If the contractor won't help you out, I would check with a irrigation supply store, they can warranty it for you. Let me know if I can be of further help, thanks and have a great day.
