can i grow long day onions in San Diego, if i plant them in September?

You should be able to grow onions in Sept. I am assuming that you do not have frost. They should be grown in a well drained sunny area. They like a lot of water and organic fertilizer. Get them started in small flats until they are about 6 inches tall and then transplant them.
