king palm tree

Question
i have a king palm and it froze during the winter we cut back the brown leaves and the trunk still looks green and u can see another leaf inside the trunk but it looks brown what can i do is it dead or i heard it could be dorminate (asleep) please help i have only had it maybe a year don't want to loose it.  thanks   sherry

Answer
Hi sherry, unfortunately once a palm freezes, it is up to mother nature whether it makes it or not; there really isn't anything we can do to nurse it back except cut back on watering, or you will kill it for sure,by rotting the now inert root system. They don't go dormant, they slow down during the winter, but are still actively growing year around. Nick
