King palm trunk

Question
I noticed that two of my king palms have some kind of pest eating away at the base of the palm right above the ground. It almost appears to be like a termite would eat at wood. I can't see the bug or pest. One of the king palms have lost about half of its trunk. It kind of looks like dryrot or something. Can I spray or treat the tree to kill whatever is eating the trunks?
Thank you,

Answer
Hi Dan,                                                             Whats up!I Would treat tree asap!It sounds like some damage has been done already.Treat tree with a knock down killer like ortho home defense [premethin].This will kill on contact.I also would treat  with a systemic insecticide like MERIT by BAYER/Imidacolprid which will go inside tree ,and tree will take up and kill up 2 18months.This type of insecticide kills termites n many other insects.Good Luck!!!
