Boganvilleas

Question
Can you grow Bognavilleas from cuttings? If so, how can you go about it. Many thanks for your advice.

Answer
Hi Tina, ok,Bougs can be difficult to propagate, they take a long time to root; the easiest way is to scrape a lower branch, and then put the bruised area under the soil still attached to the mother; in about 6 weeks it will have rooted and you just cut it before the roots  from the mother and plant it. The traditional method is to cut about a 6 inch semi hard piece, strip all the leaves off and apply a rooting hormone, then put the cutting in vermiculite or perlite with a misting tent over it to keep the crown from drying. good luck Nick
