anthurium outdoors

Question
I just got an anthurium plant and would like to know if it is ok to put it outside in summer.  I live in lower Orange County, N.Y. which is zone 6 I think. Thanks  for any advice you can give.

Answer
Hi Patty, do not put it in direct sunlight, keep your flamingo flower in a container that will compact the root ball somewhat, they seem to grow better in a semi pot bound state. Keep it moderately watered and wipe the leaves periodically to keep them insect free; it is tropical by nature, so now through fall it should do just fine outside in a dappled shady area. regards and luck to you..:)Nick
