transplanting my elephant ears

Question
I need to know the best way to transplant elephant ears. We are getting ready to move into our new home and I now have a tremendous amount of elephant ears that I have been replanting all around for a few years. They really seem to like my yard and they are HUGE. They need to be thinned out so I would like to transplant some to the new home. Should I cut them off and dig up the bulbs then plant in a container till spring then planting them?
What is your suggestion?
Thanks so much,
Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy, easy one, just cut them back to a couple of leaves and then lift the bulb/corm, put them in a large container, even a plastic trash barrell cut in half, and keep them damp (not wet) and put them in a shady,j protected area. Come spring they will probably have multiplied and then you can separate them and plant them in your new yard:)..Nick
