crape myrtles near septic

Question
My side porch is brutally hot in the summer, it needs some shade. I want to plant crape myrtles lining the walk off the porch, but am not sure if they would go for the septic system which is 8 - 10 feet outside of the walk. Would they "attack" the septic? And if so, any suggestions on another shadey solution?

Answer
You should not have a problem with the crept myrtle and the septic lines. Most trees IF they are planted right on top of a line can seek the water and clog the line. But since these trees are further than 8 -10 feet their roots should not be a problem. Crept myrtle roots extend about the same distance out as the limbs. And the outer roots will be small and no problem.
