boxwood pruning

Question
i have several large Korean and American variety boxwoods.  they are now so large(15+) yrs old.  how or can they be pruned back to reduce the size?  i realize they will look dreadful for a yr. or so but i really need to reduce their mass and open up area around them.  your suggestions?

Answer
Hi Kelly
Boxwoods are dificult to renovate after they have grow big
the best way to keep them is alow them to grow to the size you wish them to be, shape them as they grow and then maintain them from then on. it is possible to renovate them by hard pruning but slow growback and sometimes they will not recover at all. give it a try and see what happens
