rose bush has worms....

Question
my sitka rosebushes are haveing worm problems. the worms are curling between leaves and then leaving like a cocoon on the outer part of leaf and little black dot's about the size of a piece of lead.. any idea on what they might be and how to get rid of them

Answer
It sounds like your roses have the Tortix moth. This insect lay eggs on the underside of a rose leaf and then rolls the leaf up to form a protective cover. The black specks are what the larvae excrete.there are two things you cam do. One is to just pick off all the leaves that have them in it and burn them or you can use any rose insecticide spray. Both will get rid of the problem.
