Question

Flowering perennial.
Many thanks for your assistance.  I live in north-central Massachusetts.  When I bought the home I now live in, there was already in place a perennial woody bush that is in bloom right now.  It has pink flowers of varying shades.  I am attaching a picture of it.  Can you identify it for me, and give me care instructions?

Answer
Hi Steven,
Thanx for your question and the picture.  The plant looks like a weigela bush.  These shrubs will produce flowers of pink, white or red or some shrubs will produce all or a combination of the some of the colors.  The shrub has average soil needs and average water needs.  Feed it in the spring with a side dressing of well composted cow manure.  In times of drought, a good soaking once a week with the garden hose will be helpful.  The plants does best in full sun.  I hope this helps.
