Perennial lantana

Question
Hi Tom,
can I split my lantana into two plants as I do my hosta?
Thanks, Dan

Answer
Hi Dan,
Thanx for your question.  Lantana is propagated by softwood (green wood) or hard wood (brown wood)cuttings.  You cannot divide it like hostas.  Make cuttings about six inches long and strip all leaves off except the top three.  Make the cutting where the branch meets the main branch and dip in rooting hormone which is available at many nurseries.  Stick the cut end into some soilless mix (moist not soggy) and keep warm and moist.  Rooting should occur in 3 or 4 weeks.  Check for roots by inserting a pencil near the cutting.  I hope this helps.
Tom
