acalypha curly green

Answer
Hi Dawne,
Thanx for your question.  Acalypha wilkesiana 'Curly Green' is native to the South Pacific and hard in USDA Hardiness Zones 10 and 11 although it is naturalizing in Central Florida, Zone 9b.  This means, it may tolerate light frost with which you will never have to deal in Barbados.  It has average water requirements.  It can be planted in full sun to partial shade.

3-4 feet (1-1.25 meters) tall and spaced 24-36" (.6 - 1 meter) apart.  Some parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.  Some people may have an allergic reaction to the leaves.  I'm not aware of any particular pests.  Sometimes aphids will attack new growth but these are easily controlled by spraying the plant with a strong garden hose or use a spray of insecticidal soap.  Use a slow-release fertilizer available at your local nursery and follow the directions on the package.  I hope this helps.
Tom
