Collard Green Fungus

Question
QUESTION: We have an organic garden in New Mexico that is kept fairly moist with a drip system.  In the last couple weeks, the collard greens have gotten grey patches on the stems and the leaves turn an ashen color.  So far, nothing on the neighboring kale or broccoli.  Any ideas what it could be - we did have some aphids on these plants earlier, but they seem to be gone.  Thanks.

ANSWER: Jason:

It sounds to me like you have a fungus on your collard greens. Spray with a good fungucide and then slow down on the watering until the problem goes away.

Best wishes.

QUESTION: Thanks for the response, that was my concern too.  Are there any "organic" fungicides, or plant-based remedies?

Answer
Jason:

There are organic fungicides but I don't have a lot of faith in them as they have to cover a wide range of problems. Look on the web and see if you can find one you like.

Fungicides are generall a mixture of copper sulfates which are not so harmful.

Best wishes.
