replanting existing lantana

Question
I need to re-plant my 1 yr old "Irene" lantana as it has become to large and is blocking my view.  Will I lose it if I move it to another location.?

Answer
Hi Sharon,
Thanx for your question. I'm going to assume you live in an area where lantana overwinters.  If that's the case, now is good time to move it.  You may want to cut it back so that it will be easier to move.  These are tough plants.  Dig as much of the root ball as you can out and make the new hole deeper and wider than the plants root ball.  Make sure the roots are sitting in the new hole comfortably and not stuffed.  Soak the plant once it is planted and water once a week if no regular rain.  Side dress with well-composted manure.  You should be fine.  I hope this helps.
Tom
