Dear Will,

My Mom has had this 20 yr + old plant in our livingroom in San Francisco . It looks like a Palm but have yet to find any on many internet sites that look like it exactly. < I will send you a pic to your email addy >. It loves shade and is very low maintanence I give it a little potting soil hardly ever needs watering, and right now this last month seems to look its best. In past it at times didnt look to well. Thank you

Answer
Hi Monica,

The photos are quite fuzzy, but it appears that your palm is some kind of Chamaedorea, most likely a Chamaedorea cataractarum or Cat palm.

If not, perhaps you can send me a clearer photo and one that includes the base of the plant so I can see the stems clearly.

How else can I help you?

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
