My indoor palm plant

Question
Please help!  I have always wanted an indoor palm plant, and I  finally have one!  The only problem is that the the leaves are starting to turn brown and wilt.  Also, a few of the leaves are getting white spots on them.  I have it in a pot that does not have drainage, but I did put rocks at the bottom hoping that it would prevent decay.  Please let me know what could be wrong!  THANKS!

Answer
Hi Sarah,

There are many different types of palm and they have very different light and water requirements. So I will need to know just what species you have. Perhaps you can attach a photo so I can ID it for you.

All potted plants must be planted in pots with drainage holes. Putting drainage material in the bottom of the pot is an out-dated practice and actually has the opposite effect. So, at a minimum, you need to move your plant to a pot that has drainage holes and you should also remove the drainage material.

"White spots" can mean a lot of things. Please tell me their size and texture and location on the plant so I can understand what you have.
