indoor palm plant

Question
I have an indoor palm plant that is over 20 years old.  Description: 4 ft. tall and hitting the ceiling. A dry, crusty, light brown part of the stem is coming from the bottom of each stalk.  The plant is approximately four feet tall and is beginning to touch the ceiling.  I know this most likely sounds crazy, however, I am wondering how I can start a new plant from this one.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Jan Connor

Answer
Hi Jan,

There are many different types of Palm species and many other plant species that people think are Palms, but are not. I suspect the latter in your case, but I cannot be sure without seeing a good photo that shows the entire plant, including its pot. You can post the photo here or email it directly to me at [email protected].
