Indoor palm

Question
The tree is pretty much dead.  I can see the roots and some are still green.  Can i do anything with the roots or should just give up on it?

Answer
Tracy,

It is probably dead but if you cut the top back and cut back on the water, only watering it when it is very dry there is a chance that the roots will send out new shoots 2-3 months from now. If you set it in a sunny place out of sight so you forget about watering it often it may send up those sprouts. You did not say what kind of palm it was or what it died from. I suspect that it died from overwatering. Plants cannot sit with water in the drain tray constantly, they are not swamp plants. They need to be watered, then empty the drain tray and do not water again until the soil is dry half way down. You can pick up a water meter at most garden centers for under $10.00. It's the best investment you can make for your plant. Good luck.
